Busy Off-Season In Montreal
September 15, 2019
Its never dull in Montreal during the off-season.

In net Montreal acquired three new goalies after losing three goalies to free agency. The S.Bobrovsky experiment didn't work out and the Habs have been looking for a long-term solution in net ever since Luongo left town. Kuemper is the band-aid solution for this season, we'll see how it goes.

On the blueline is where the Habs shine. Montreal has four of the top 25 defenseman in the NHL with Carlson, Provlov, Werenski & Slavin. Scott Mayfield was also aquired as a #5 defenseman. Expect the Habs to sign a UFA to round out the top 6, as prospects develop. The defense is young and signed long-term. Alex Pietrangelo will be missed and was dealt in the Werenski deal.

Up front the Habs are aging but still have a collection of some of the best forwards in the NHL. Kucherov, Malkin, Kopitar & Forsberg are the key forwards. Its a little thin on lines 3 & 4 and cap space is tight. Expect the Habs to look to free agency or trade for a couple of players to fill out the top 12.

Montreal selected two forwards in the draft to add to the prospect pool full of "B" rated prospects.
