Blues Content To Stay The Course?
March 15, 2018
The Blues have had what can only be described as an up and down season. With the team on the outside looking in, we asked General Manager Marco Gil, what his thoughts were on the team this year and if they had any intention on making major moves in the off-season.

"We have been pleased with how some of the young players have come along, particularly Boeser who has quickly become a household name throughout the league. Ironically, he was sought after hard by various GM's last season but we just knew we had something special in this kid."

"Aside from that, we don't anticipate making significant moves and want to continue building on our core group. We do acknowledge the need to address our goaltending and it's something we'll try to remedy come the off-season.

Who can argue his approach? The team is in a good cash position, will be competitive throughout free agency and have arguably the best young group of players in the WEHL.

What remains to be seen is how Marco will handle future contract situations. Obviously, as his star young players get older, they will demand increasing amounts of pay and it'll be interesting to see if he will manage to find a way to keep the core together for the long-term.
