Lightning Recap
April 09, 2018
With only 10 games remaining in what looks to be another lost season for the lightning the team can only look to the progress their young players have made this year.

It looks like the team finally will have a new 1-2 combo up the middle with Brayden Point and Nick Schmaltz. The pair have combined to put up 30 and 20 goal seasons respectively while playing meaningful minutes on the top 2 lines.

Erikkson Ek managed to stay up with the big club for the entire season and looks to be ready to take on a bottom 6 role next year.

Bjorkstrand, Duclair and Hayden all seem to have carved out 3rd line scoring roles which they will continue to do next year on the club.

With Patrick Laine's continual rise as one of the leagues most lethal snipers proven by his 44 goal output this year it is without question the clubs future lies in its forward depth.

The key now will be to add to the team's defensive depth as well as finding a netminder that can hold down the fort for the next few years as the rebuild looks to be nearing its conclusion.
