Capitals Move Top Echelon Defenseman.
June 16, 2019
It has been almost the entire season that the Caps have been looking for cap relief. Although the cap looked to be moving up, it may rise less than originally thought.

In a move that was primarily for space the Caps were able to make a deal that was also a hockey deal as well.

Moving out is OEL a certain top pair dman and coming back is a younger version in Rasmus Ristolainen.

"We can't survive in a cap world with 3 - $8 million plus dmen. But this deal was not long to develop. When Andrew and I settled on the key pieces I knew it would get done. Rasmus doesn't lose a ton of offense for us but we feel his defense is underrated. We are pumped to get a player we feel is almost equal and save over $3 million in cap space."

Bachul said they weren't done suggesting the market for Subban is still percolating.
